This designer dog was first developed in the United States in the 1960s. This crossbreed has gained huge popularity over the last decades.

In 1998, the Cockapoo Club of America was founded by Mary D. Foley. Later, the American Cockapoo Club was founded in 2004.

It is recommended to feed them twice a day. The amount of food depends on your Cockapoo’s size, age, build, and activity level. Try to feed your pup in a quiet place with minimum distractions.

Cockapoos are intelligent and easy to train dogs. Cockapoos learn best by positive reinforcement techniques. Punishments will only have negative effects on your pet. Make Cockapoo training a positive experience filled with praise and rewards.

They need consistent and firm training right from puppyhood. Begin socializing your Cockapoo from a young age. It will help them grow up to be well-behaved and obedient dogs.

Grooming needs of Cockapoo: 

Cockapoos are low shedding dogs. Let’s have a look at the grooming needs of Cockapoo:

  • Brushing: Cockapoos need to be brushed regularly to avoid mats. This will keep their coat smooth and healthy.
  • Bathing: They only need to be bathed when absolutely necessary. Always use high quality canine shampoo and conditioner.
  • Coat trimming: Hair around the eyes should be trimmed to allow visibility.
  • Ear cleaning: Their long floppy ears can easily become moist and infected. Examine and clean your Cockapoo’s ears every week to prevent infection. 
  • Teeth cleaning: Brush your Cockapoo’s teeth at least two or three times a week to remove tartar buildup and bacteria.
  • Nail trimming: Trim nails once or twice a month. This will keep their paws in good condition.
  • Eye cleaning: Your Cockapoos’ eyes should be clear with no discharge or redness.

Exercise requirements of Cockapoo:

Cockapoos have a moderate energy level and require physical and mental stimulation to thrive. You can expect at least 15 minutes of exercise every day to stay healthy and stimulated.
